Originally from Windermere BC, Fia attended the Kootenay School of the Arts, graduating with a diploma in the Metal Arts program. There Fia developed her talents as a sculptor, learning the process of casting bronze and aluminum, forging steel and fabricating with found objects. Upon graduating she further expanded her metalworking expertise while assisting established sculptors in various studios around the province. Fia now lives in Vancouver, where for the past five years she was a custom metalwork designer for a local metal fabricating company, working in the design and production of decorative and architectural metalwork. During this time she continued to practice in her studio, focusing on working with metal as well as concrete, glass, and oil paints on canvas. Fia has recently launched “Savage”, a collection of metalwork, while continuing to freelance as a designer and fabricator.
