About Marie Wustner
Marie Wustner is an American documentary painter, photographer, and experimental video artist. Her background in these three mediums has influenced her interest in socially relevant and publicly accessible art forms. Her work with experimental documentary video reveals a strong commitment to citizen journalism informed by media literacy. This work highlights open source websites sites, like Youtube, as libraries for modern cultural artifacts. She believes these databases are essential for the democratization of mass media. Her interest in the potential of citizen media derives from extensive travel, embedded photo journalism, and volunteer work, in South East Asia and China.
Marie holds a B.A. from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a major in Studio Art and a minor in Art Education. She received her MFA in Documentary Media at Ryerson University in 2009. Since graduating Marie has continued her media production in Indonesia, Mexico, The USA, and is currently working in Vancouver Canada.
